Types of data collected

Among the types of personal data that this website collects, by itself or through third parties, there are: name; email address; company name; telephone or messaging number; the content of enquiries submitted; and usage data.

Personal data may be freely provided by the user through the enquiry form, or, in the case of usage data, collected automatically when using this website. Usage data may include information such as the pages visited, the referring website or search engine, approximate location derived at country level, browser and device type, and the time of the visit.

Fields marked as required on the enquiry form are mandatory, and failure to provide them may make it impossible for us to respond. Fields not marked as required may be omitted without consequence. Users who are uncertain about which personal data is mandatory are welcome to contact the owner.

Users are responsible for any third-party personal data obtained, published or shared through this website and confirm that they have the third party’s consent to provide that data to the owner.

Mode and place of processing the data

Methods of processing

The owner takes appropriate security measures to prevent unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, or unauthorised destruction of the data. Processing is carried out using computers and IT-enabled tools, following organisational procedures and modes strictly related to the purposes indicated. In addition to the owner, the data may be accessible to persons involved in the operation of this website (administration, sales, technical) or to external parties appointed as data processors by the owner — such as hosting providers, email delivery providers, analytics providers and other IT service providers. An updated list of these parties may be requested from the owner at any time.

Legal basis of processing

The owner may process personal data relating to users where one of the following applies:

  • processing is necessary for the performance of an agreement with the user, or for pre-contractual steps taken at the user’s request, such as responding to an enquiry, quoting, or supplying samples and documentation;
  • processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the owner, such as responding to business correspondence, maintaining a record of customer and prospect relationships, and keeping business contacts informed about products and technical developments relevant to them;
  • the user has given consent for one or more specific purposes;
  • processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which the owner is subject.

The owner will gladly help clarify the specific legal basis that applies to a particular processing activity.

Place

The data is processed at the owner’s operating offices in Hong Kong and in any other place where the parties involved in the processing are located. Depending on the user’s location, data transfers may involve transferring the user’s data to a country other than their own, including outside the European Economic Area. Where such transfers take place, they rely on the safeguards put in place by the providers concerned, including standard contractual clauses where applicable. Users are entitled to learn about the legal basis of such transfers and the security measures taken, by contacting the owner using the details in this document.

Retention time

Personal data shall be processed and stored for as long as required by the purpose for which it was collected. Therefore:

  • personal data collected for purposes related to the performance of a contract between the owner and the user shall be retained until that contract has been fully performed and for as long as needed thereafter for legal, accounting or record-keeping purposes;
  • personal data collected for the purposes of the owner’s legitimate interests shall be retained as long as needed to fulfil those purposes.

The owner may be allowed to retain personal data for a longer period where the user has given consent to such processing, as long as that consent is not withdrawn, or where required to do so for the performance of a legal obligation or upon order of an authority. Once the retention period expires, personal data shall be deleted.

The purposes of processing

Data concerning the user is collected to allow the owner to provide its service, comply with its legal obligations, respond to enforcement requests, protect its rights and interests, and detect any malicious or fraudulent activity, as well as for the following purposes: contacting the user; managing enquiries and business correspondence; hosting and backend infrastructure; analytics; and commercial communications.

Detailed information on the processing of personal data

Contacting the user and managing enquiries

When a user submits the enquiry form, the information entered is sent to the owner by email so that the enquiry can be answered, and an acknowledgement email is sent to the address provided. Email delivery is carried out by a third-party email delivery provider acting as a data processor on the owner’s behalf. Correspondence is then continued and retained through the owner’s ordinary business email systems.

Hosting and backend infrastructure

This website is hosted by a third-party hosting provider, which processes the data needed to operate and deliver the website, including server and system logs.

Analytics

This website may use a third-party analytics service to understand aggregate usage — for example how many people visit, which pages they view, which country they visit from, and which website or search engine referred them. Any analytics service used by this website is selected to operate without cookies and without building persistent profiles of individual visitors. Analytics data is used for aggregate statistical purposes and to improve the website, not to identify individual users.

Commercial communications

Where a user has contacted the owner in a business capacity, the owner may from time to time send that user information about its products, technical developments, documentation updates or related commercial matters that it considers relevant to them. Users may object to this at any time, without giving a reason and at no cost, by replying to any such message or by emailing info@tectaramaterials.com, and the owner will stop. The owner does not sell, rent or trade personal data to third parties.

Cookies and trackers

This website does not use cookies or similar tracking technologies for advertising, profiling, cross-site tracking, heat mapping or session recording. Should this change, this policy will be updated and, where required, consent will be requested before any such technology is used.

The rights of users

Users may exercise certain rights regarding their data processed by the owner. In particular, users have the right to do the following:

  • Withdraw their consent at any time, where they have previously given consent to the processing of their personal data.
  • Object to processing of their data, where the processing is carried out on a legal basis other than consent.
  • Access their data, to learn whether data is being processed by the owner, obtain disclosure regarding certain aspects of the processing, and obtain a copy of the data undergoing processing.
  • Verify and seek rectification, to check the accuracy of their data and ask for it to be updated or corrected.
  • Restrict the processing of their data in certain circumstances, in which case the owner will not process their data for any purpose other than storing it.
  • Have their personal data deleted or otherwise removed in certain circumstances.
  • Receive their data and have it transferred to another controller, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, where technically feasible.
  • Lodge a complaint before their competent data protection authority.

Details about the right to object to processing

Where personal data is processed for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the owner, users may object to such processing by providing a ground related to their particular situation to justify the objection. Users should be aware, however, that where their personal data is processed for direct marketing purposes, they may object to that processing at any time, without providing any justification.

How to exercise these rights

Any request to exercise user rights can be directed to the owner at info@tectaramaterials.com. These requests can be exercised free of charge and will be addressed by the owner as early as possible, and in any case within any period required by applicable law.

Users in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom may lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority. Users in Hong Kong may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data.

The user declares to be aware that the owner may be required to reveal personal data upon request of public authorities.

System logs and maintenance

For operation and maintenance purposes, this website and any third-party services may collect files that record interaction with this website (system logs) and use other personal data, such as the IP address, for this purpose.

The version published on this page is always the current one, and users are encouraged to check it from time to time.
