Data & test results
Independent test data and documentation for KOVON architectural film. All figures are drawn from third-party testing; full reports are available to specifiers on request.
Reaction to fire
B — s1, d0
BS EN 13501-1:2018
KOVON Grain — Performance Grain
Class B-s1,d0 means very low flame spread, the lowest smoke classification, and no flaming droplets.
Fire classification to BS EN 13501-1:2018, tested by SGS under HOKLAS accreditation (Reg. No. 229)
EN 13501-1 test results
Every measured parameter is within the Class B / s1 / d0 limits.
| Parameter | Result | Requirement | |
|---|---|---|---|
| FIGRA 0.2MJ | 18.5 W/s | ≤ 120 W/s | |
| FIGRA 0.4MJ | 18.5 W/s | ≤ 120 W/s | |
| THR 600s | 0.4 MJ | ≤ 7.5 MJ | |
| SMOGRA (smoke) | 1.9 m²/s² | ≤ 30 m²/s² — s1 | |
| TSP 600s (smoke) | 38.7 m² | ≤ 50 m² — s1 | |
| Lateral flame spread | None to edge | Must not reach edge | |
| Flaming droplets / particles | None | d0 | |
| Ignitability — Fs (EN ISO 11925-2) | ≤ 150 mm / 60 s | Pass |
Result applies to the tested build-up: 0.2 mm film (240 g/m²) self-adhered to a 10 mm A2 calcium silicate board, without joints. Valid for all A1/A2 substrates. The official SGS classification report (No. SDFTS26003552R01) was issued in July 2026 and is available to specifiers on request.

Application
Installation & handling
A summary of the KOVON installation guide and technical notes. The full illustrated guide is included in the product catalogue and available on request.
Installation guide
Application scope
Designed for interior surfaces, installed by trained professionals.
Installation environment
Install at 18–25°C on a completely dry substrate, in a clean, dust-free area.
Substrate requirements
Clean, smooth, stable surfaces — MDF, plywood, wood, metal, glass, painted surfaces.
Surface preparation
Sand, fill uneven areas, clean with alcohol, and dry fully before application.
Primer treatment
Apply 2–3 coats to cut edges, porous substrates, corners, and joints.
Installation method
Apply from the centre outward with a felt squeegee; use heat for curves, avoid overstretching.
Joint & pattern
Keep a consistent direction and batch; pre-check pattern alignment before installing.
Precautions & technical notes
Moisture & humidity
Avoid moisture-prone substrates; seal edges properly in wet areas.
High temperature
Avoid continuous heat above 50°C and direct sunlight.
Substrate limitations
Not for uneven, unstable, or moving substrates — the base must be firmly fixed.
Inspection & batch control
Inspect before installation; avoid mixing batches on the same surface.
Embossed / textured films
Textured films need stronger pressure for full adhesion in recessed areas.
Mock-up first
Always conduct a mock-up test before full installation.
Installation should be carried out by trained professionals. Product performance may vary depending on substrate and site conditions — always conduct a mock-up test before full installation.
